Charging your EV

Authenticate or plug-and-charge each session?

Prior to the installation of your home charger, you will have the opportunity to choose from the following options:

  • You can either authenticate each charging session using the We.EV app or an RFID fob. This adds an extra layer of security, especially for chargers located outdoors, to prevent unauthorised use of your charger.
  • Or you can choose to plug-and-charge each session, allowing the charger to automatically begin charging your EV as soon as it is plugged in or when the scheduled start time has been reached without any authentication.

Charging

  1. Navigate to the "house" icon at the bottom left of the screen to access your home page, and confirm that your scheduled SMART charging is off (toggled to the left) otherwise the charging session will only start once the set time has been reached. Also, confirm that your charger is "Ready" (the charger status is indicated below the charger image).

If you need to authenticate a charging session (as described above), then you can do so with an RFID fob registered to your We.EV account or via your mobile app.

Alternatively, if your charger will plug-and-charge, then you just need to plug the EV and it will start charging after a few moments.

Scheduled Charging

  1. Navigate to the "house" icon at the bottom left of the screen to access your home page, scheduled SMART charging is off when toggled to the left.

  2. Scheduled SMART charging is on when toggled to the right, and will display the set time schedule. Click on the time schedule (indicated by green star) to update the set times.
  3. Click on the Start time or End time to update the scheduled time and then save the changes.
  4. Your updated schedule will be reflected on the home page when scheduled SMART charging is active.

When you plug your charging cable into the EV, be sure to authenticate the scheduled charging session via your mobile app.

* Please note - if your scheduled SMART charging is activated, you won't be able to charge until the set start time. If you want to charge at another time, remember to turn off (toggle left) your scheduled SMART charging.

We.EV App Overview

Can more than one person use my app/account?

  • Absolutely, other people can use your app/account if they use your login credentials.

  • Alternatively, you can add additional Fobs to your account for others to use.

Do I need to add a credit/debit card?

  • You do not need to add a payment method for your home charging, but this would be useful if you are likely to use We.EV public fast chargers. You will obviously not have any payments deducted for your home charging, but will have access to your public charging payment history. If you do not have enough on your debit card, your We.EV account may show a negative available balance and you will not be able to charge again at a public charger until this amount has been settled.

  • Adding a credit or debit card is simple and should only take a few minutes. In your account menu, select the “+" next to the "Pay via:" option to add your preferred payment method.

Refer to the illustrated guide below:
